Disconnect a USB device when Windows will not allow it
Written by Alex April 10, 2012 - 8:57 amOne of the most annoying things that happen when you're in a hurry and you have to unplug a USB device is to receive the operating system message that says the device can not be disconnected, and attempting, and of course this happens more frequently as you in a hurry.
The temptation to remove the device and go is very strong, but can lead to serious damage to the device's file system, so you need an alternative.
One possibility is Unlocker , an excellent free program to Cedric 'Nitch' Collomb that solves the problem mainly to indicate which application is holding open a file and be able to delete it anyway but it also fixes other locking situations.

Iconify windows and more with the keyboard in Windows
Written by Alex April 15, 2011 - 9:14 pm
The keyboard is always faster than the mouse, but in some cases it is difficult to remember some key combinations little used, for example those which are used to maximize and minimize a window.
To minimize all open windows you can use the combination ALT + M and to show the desktop is a combination Windows Key + D. This is a switch and can be repeated.
To minimize the active window, press alt + space and then the I (r leaders in icon).
To maximize the active window by pressing alt + space key and then the N (i N grandisci ).
To close the active window by pressing alt + space and then the C key (C ose), but the standard combination Alt + F4 is quicker.
To lock the PC and to request the password you use Windows + L, wanting to create a desktop shortcut for this purpose, you create a link with the name you want and as you enter the following command string:
% Windir% \ system32 \ rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation
Another thing not widely known is that you can invoke the context menu (the one that appears by pressing the right mouse button) simply by pressing Shift-F10 after selecting an object.

The author suggests to verify if you are missing some critical files (System File Checker Utility button), then create a restore point (button Create System Restore Point) and then apply each time a single solution and then restart the system and verify the results before proceeding with other changes, so as to be able to keep under control the outcome of the intervention.
The application is free and can be downloaded here in zip format.

How to make Vista faster close
Written by Alex June 6, 2009 - 8:30 amMore applications are loaded and the longer it takes to shut down Windows. This is especially true for applications that are installed as services, and start at computer startup and maybe wait for a timeout before allowing shutdown.
To speed up the shutdown of Windows might be an idea to open the registry editor and find the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control
