Sometimes it would be nice to speed up the operation or even to enter only the username and password is default.
For Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista and Windows 7 you can use the system utilities:
cmdkey
that allows you to maintain multiple combinations of usernames and passwords to shared resources on the network, keeping them encrypted in the Windows Registry. more »

Windows 7 and the godmode
Written by Alex February 8, 2010 - 7:39 pmHow to open a hidden control panel in Windows 7
Windows 7 has a hidden feature called "God Mode"
The reason it is called so is easy to understand when you see it: it is a control panel from which you can change a ton of settings in Windows 7.
To create it, just create a new folder on your desktop, and then rename it as follows:
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

Just changed the name, the icon changes as follows:

Just let us double click it and it appears a significant number of options you can take:

It works in Windows 7 and Vista.
There are also other codes used in the same way:
- {00C6D95F-329C-81D7-409A-C46C66EA7F33} - (Default location)
- {0142e4d0-fb7a-11dc-ba4a-000ffe7ab428} - (biometric devices)
- {025A5937-4686-A844-A6BE-36FE4BEC8B6D} - (Power Save Settings)
- {05d7b0f4-2121-4Eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9} - (Settings icon and notifications in the taskbar)
- {1206F5F1-0569-412C-8FEC-3204630DFB70} - (credentials for automatic logon)
- {15eae92e-f17a-4431-9f28-805e482dafd4} - (Install a program from the network)
- {17cd9488-1228-4b2f-88ce-4298e93e0966} - (Set Default Programs)
- {1D2680C9-0E2A-469d-B787-065558BC7D43} - (Assembly)

- {208D2C60-3AEA-1069-A2D7-08002B30309D} - (Network)
- {20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} - (Windows Explorer, folder "Computer")
- {2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D} - (Printers)
- {241D7C96-F8BF-4F85-B01F-E2B043341A4B} - (Connect to the desktop and network printers)
- {4026492F-2F69-46B8-B9BF-5654FC07E423} - (Windows Firewall)
- {78F3955E-3B90-4184-BD14-5397C15F1EFC} - (Computer Performance)
The characters preceding the "." Can be changed at will, so if you feel a bit 'too high-sounding names you can give it less "important" but more important (in fact for godmode usually means a mode of some games where the player's character is invulnerable to any damage).

How to make Vista faster close
Written by Alex June 6, 2009 - 8:30 amMore applications are loaded and the longer it takes to shut down Windows. This is especially true for applications that are installed as services, and start at computer startup and maybe wait for a timeout before allowing shutdown.
To speed up the shutdown of Windows might be an idea to open the registry editor and find the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control

Turn off your PC with the Vista shutdown button
Written by Alex June 4, 2009 - 8:33 amThe default action of the shutdown button in Vista is "Hibernate", that's not good to almost anyone, because even © deviates from what is used to know you.
To make yes that the computer shuts down completely, as everyone expects, should give the command (from Win-E or from Start, Run):
powercfg.cpl, 1
Alternatively the Control Panel, Power Options \ Change combinations to energy savings \ Change advanced power settings.
Once in this screen to get to "Power buttons and lid"

From here you can choose the desired options for the case of battery and mains power:
- Operation power button - Changes the action of the physical power button
- Start menu power button - Changes the action of the button in the Start Menu
You can choose from StandBy, Shut down with or without confirmation or nothing as an option for the off button.
The various options available from the Start menu button is
- Switch User: If the computer is used by most people, you can establish a set of accounts, one for each computer user. Each account will have its own settings, their personal folders and so on, so that it can not interfere with the settings of other users. By choosing this option, you can quickly switch to another user;
- Shut Down: If you close the session, all the programs currently in use are closed and all activities are stopped. The computer, pear ², is not turned off, another user can access with their own data;
- Block: When you must drive away from the computer and want to maintain your privacy, you can prevent € ™ s computer access by other users who are not in possession of credentials. For this purpose, it is enough to press the lock button lock (computer) in the Start menu. The computer will be blocked immediately; to access it again, it will need to enter your password.

Windows: we clean!
Written by Alex January 13, 2009 - 10:04 am
You're running out of disk space because of your beloved OS, maybe Vista? Vista accumulate piles of temporary files, cached files and assorted junk in daily operations, especially browsing on the Internet. The free disk space is affected by this and continues to fall (have you ever wondered why are more and more capacious disks?) Unless you shall. Moreover, the existence of these files will degrade performance and increase the fragmentation of data on disk - and virtually no one I know ever does defragmentation with Defrag (right click on a disk drive and Properties, Tools, Defragment files on the volume).
