WordPress versions prior to 2.8.4 are vulnerable, anyone can reset the password by entering a special URL (http://www.dominio.it/wp-login.php?action=rp&key [] =) in the browser. This URL would accept as a parameter to reset the password the new password, turning down an empty value, but key [], which is an empty array, it is accepted! Change the user password in Vista

Standard Test Method

  • press the key combination Ctrl + Alt + Del and then click on Change Password
  • fill in the fields of Old Password / New Password and Confirm Password and click on the icon with the arrow

Alternative Method

  • Open a command prompt with administrator rights and type the following command:

net user UserName Password

(Replace UserName account name and password instead of the password required).

Example: net user paul ceNcio59H *

NOTE: This command can not remove an existing password, just change it.

To start the Command Prompt with administrative rights:

  • Start, Run, or the keyboard shortcut Win-R
  • Write CMD, and press ENTER instead of the usual, the key combination CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER.
