A clone of Google Chrome least curious
Written by Alex October 13, 2008 - 9:11 am Since Chrome is an open-source project can study the code and reuse it, of course respecting the limits imposed by Google, the creator of that Chrome.
SRWare has decided to create a new browser which presented the advanced features of Chrome and while not undermined privacy. Chrome fact constantly communicates with the servers of the parent, communicating some of the activities: in particular the creation of a unique ID for each user can carry out statistical studies but also control the way we use it. Although the reason is basically to improve their browser, most (rightly) do not feel safe to use Chrome for applications such as home banking.
The browser Iron SRWare allows to exploit the advanced features of Chrome without having to worry about their privacy, and exists in a portable version (no installation).
Some features of Iron (made from Chrome, which is open source) in connection with the counterparty Chrome:
- Iron does not assign a unique ID to each user
- As written in the address bar is not sent to Google for any suggestions
- The inclusion of an incorrect address does not generate a notice to Google
- The information on crashes and errors are not sent to any
- Google Updater does not install the optional program running in the background

Google Chrome to date
Written by Alex October 7, 2008 - 7:29 pmIf you want Chrome is always updated (not only on major releases but also the minor ones) follow these steps:
Note: On Windows Vista, the update requires Service Pack 1. With the current version, 0.2.149.29 updates do not work in Vista SP1 if UAC (User Account Control) is disabled.
If you do not know how to get rid of GoogleUpdate, this is how:
- make sure it is not running possibly by blocking the process with task manager
- Delete the folder C: \ documents and settings \ username \ Local Settings \ Application Data \ GoogleUpdate
- remove the task from Scheduled Tasks in Control Panel
