Fifty sites to look for free icons
Written by Alex December 28, 2010 - 4:00 am![]()
A list of websites where you can find free icons to download both comfortable doing software developers who use them to their interfaces, and Web designers who are always trying to look more attractive and they both know is not easy to find icons pleasant and well made, to say nothing of the consistency that must be together. Certainly the most creative shake their heads because they prefer to do everything ourselves, but often lack the physical time, and so ...
Most of these icons are distributed under a license "creative commons", but read carefully the instructions on their site before you commit yourselves too. It is not an exhaustive list but it can grow, ven according to your reports, however, is rare and needs to have one of these sites fail to satisfy.
PS The first 10 people who comment on this article will receive by email (so remember to leave your email) a business license for free WinX DVD Ripper, under the sponsorship of Digiarty. The license is then recorded by 31/12/2010 to be valid.

Disable the touchpad to avoid typos
Written by Alex August 16, 2010 - 6:43 pm
Often when typing on a notebook accidentally touching the touchpad, and the result is that the cursor ends up in a random place and you lose a lot of time to reconstruct what happened, not to mention the risk of leaving text out of place , which could also be embarrassing.
The first thing is to try and get groped in the options of the driver of the touchpad and see if it offers the possibility to automatically disable the same when you use an external mouse, since many use the mouse as an alternative to the touchpad that would already be a solution of the problem.
For those who do not use external mouse or a touchpad has a driver does not give this possibility, there are free applications that avoid these errors, by detecting and disabling the touchpad as you type until you realize that you are writing.
One of these is Touchpad Pal, compatible with XP, Vista and Windows 7, you can download here: tpp.exe .
TouchFreeze is an alternative to Windows NT/2000/XP, downloadable here , which are also available for C + + sources.

Can not open the Outlook (2003 or 2007)
Written by Alex July 16, 2010 - 7:47 am
This error prevents the start of Outlook, the behavior is as follows: when you start Outlook (2000, 2002, 2003, 2007) appears the message:
Can not start Microsoft Outlook. Can not open the Outlook window.
If you acknowledge the message closes the application without further information.
The most common cause is the corruption of the configuration file (nomeprofilo.xml in your user profile) that is used to manage the navigation pane (the left sidebar in Outlook). The following intervention does is delete and regenerate this file, restoring the default configuration. This action also removes any favorite links and folders that were previously configured, but at least allows you to regain access to their profile.
To do this just start Outlook with the / resetnavpane.
Basically just use the command "Start -> Run ..." and then type:
outlook / resetnavpane For a discussion on the use of parameters that you start Outlook, you can also see a future article on this topic.
If the error messages from one of the following figure:
- You did not create any profile
- Unable to load the list of profiles
you must configure Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2003 to prompt the user to specify an email profile on startup; follow these steps:
- Click the Start button and choose Control Panel.
- Click Switch to Classic View, then double-click Mail.
- In the Mail Setup dialog box, click Show Profiles.
- On the General tab, click Prompt for a profile to be used under When starting Microsoft Office Outlook.
- Click OK.

Undetect: what is it?
Written by Alex July 14, 2009 - 10:03 am
The antivirusattuali base their ability to capture virus signature recognition (recognition of a typical code fragment for a specific virus) but also, given the frequency of polymorphic viruses (which change randomly part of their code) on heuristic techniques, namely Recognition of malicious behavior.
In other words, a program that recognizes decodificandole passwords for access to the sites of your FTP transfer program would probably be labeled as infected by at least half of the antivirus available. And if the exe was encrypted for defense and / or compressed to identify as a threat is obvious, usually with the typical words "probably a variant of Win32.Hack" or something similar.
The virus of today are not like they used to be, that when they said that it was a virus so it was.

He lost all passwords upgrading to Firefox 3.5?
Written by Alex July 13, 2009 - 11:31 am
Have you updated Firefox to v.3.5 and everything works (apart from the not yet updated plugin that you missed), but ... at some point discover that passwords are stored there.
A quick Google search shows that with FF3.5 Mozilla Firefox has built-in SQLite and during installation should also be converting from signons3.txt key3.db and the new format, but this sometimes fails, leaving a file of blank password in FF3.5.
Fortunately the old files are deleted so all is not lost.
The solution.
It starts with a backup.
1) So the first attempt is to make sure Firefox is closed, enter in your profile folder (see below) and delete the file signons.sqlite.
FF restarting the conversion process is raised, and could be successful this time.
2) If not, install Firefox Portable 3.0 , a version that runs without installation, directly copying it to a folder, even on a USB stick.
- Start FF Portable and exit immediately.
- Find your profile folder (eg. G: \ FirefoxPortable \ 3.0 \ Data \ profile)
- Install the addon Password Exporter plugin , both of you on your Portable Firefox FF normal.
- Export passwords to Portable FF from an XML file.
- Close Portable FF and start Firefox normally.
- Importing passwords from the XML file you just created.
- If this does not work with the message that the XML file can not be imported, probably some entries contain invalid characters. Opening the XML file with a text editor you can possibly find rows with characters like <or>, it should be deleted.
This last is probably more a problem of the plugin to import / export of passwords that the original reason for not importing, but probably caused by duplicate entries.
Where to find the profile folder?
Under Vista / Windows 7 is:
C: \ Users \ {your name} \ AppData \ Roaming \ Mozilla \ Firefox \ Profiles \ Abcd.default
where {your name} is your login name and Abcd Operating System is the identifier of the Firefox profile. If you have multiple profiles, there will be multiple folders.
Under XP:
C: \ Documents and Settings \ {your name} \ Application Data \ Mozilla \ Firefox \ Profiles \ Abcd.default
